A 25-year-old Marine corporal has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a fellow Marine.
Lance Cpl. Darrel K. Manley, 23, died at 12:45 p.m. after being shot an hour earlier in the barracks at the Camp Horno section of Camp Pendleton. Manley, of Milwaukee, was shot with his own .357 Magnum handgun, a base spokesman said.
Cpl. John Bisiules was placed in custody in the brig at Camp Pendleton and is under investigation by the Naval Investigative Service. It is unknown whether the shooting was accidental or intentional, the spokesman said.
Marines are allowed to bring private weapons onto the base but must store them with the base armory. Weapons are not allowed in barracks, a spokesman said.
