Covina : Pets Must Be Fenced In

In an effort to protect residents from potentially dangerous animals, the City Council will require local dog owners to fence in their pets, starting Dec. 16.

Under an ordinance passed unanimously at Monday’s council meeting, dogs may be left outside unattended only if yards or lawns are fenced.

The purpose of the law, said Police Department spokesman Mark Kay, is to “prevent people from being able to casually enter another’s property and get within reach of a dog.” Kay said several young children have been bitten by dogs in neighbors’ yards.
