Playing the ‘Color Game’ and Pursuing the American Dream
- Share via
I just finished reading the article about Gabrielle.
I am a graduate of an all-girls Catholic high school. My daughters also attended another all-girls Catholic high school. Both of these schools are in the Los Angeles Archdiocese.
As far as my experience and my observation of my daughters’ school, that game is played out every day. Armbands are not needed; it is a way of life in some Catholic girls high schools. Thank goodness we have people like Gabrielle and her parents that have the courage to stand up and be counted. It is not easy under the Catholic system.
The only consolation I have is when, years later, I attended my class reunion. I looked around at my former classmates and thought to myself “Thank God I was an outie.”
