A 19-year-old transient was being held in County Jail on Thursday in the robbery and rape of a woman at her Tustin apartment, police said.
The suspect, identified as Isiah Tapp, was booked Wednesday night on suspicion of burglary, robbery, rape and forced oral copulation, police said. He was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
The 23-year-old woman said she was attacked about 9 a.m. Wednesday by a masked man who entered her apartment at Villa de Hacienda through a sliding glass door and threatened her with a pair of scissors, Lt. Walt Wedemeyer said.
After the rape, the woman tried to escape into the patio area, but the man caught and beat her, police said. She suffered minor injuries and was not hospitalized. The man took money and jewelry from the apartment and fled, police said.
A police officer patrolling the area about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday arrested Tapp, who matched the description of the attacker, Wedemeyer said.
