LAMAR, Colo. — A shoplifter, possibly moved by the Christmas spirit, mailed $50 in a letter to the Lamar Chamber of Commerce to be distributed to five stores from which merchandise was taken.
“Regretfully, I have taken merchandise which was not paid for from local stores in Lamar,” the letter said. “Following is the amounts taken from the stores: K mart $20; Gibsons $5; Safeway $5; Warehouse Foods $10; Big R $10.”
An extra $5 was enclosed to pay a member of the chamber to distribute what was owed.
