Local News in Brief : 3 Held in Cocaine Haul

Torrance police arrested three men and seized 508 pounds of cocaine in a truck bound for New Jersey.
The cocaine, which has a street value of $23 million, was intended for distribution on the East Coast, Lt. David G. Marsden said.
The carefully wrapped packages of cocaine were found hidden in the sleeping compartment of the truck, stopped late Tuesday in Los Angeles by undercover officers from Torrance and Los Angeles police, sheriff’s deputies and the California Highway Patrol.
Arraigned Thursday on felony narcotics possession charges were Jose Candido Louro, 23; Luis Manny Domingos, 25, and Jose Edvardo Azevedo, 26, all Portuguese nationals from Newark, N.J.
