Christine Meier of West Germany overtook Yugoslavia’s Mateja Svet to earn her first World Cup skiing victory in a women’s giant slalom at Aspen, Colo.
Meier posted the fourth-fastest second run of 1 minute 10.81 seconds for a two-run aggregate of 2:23.16. Svet, who had the lead after the first run, faltered her second time down the mountain and finished fourth.
