The IRS Fresno Service Center, which handles all the returns from Hawaii and most of those from California, expects to receive 11 million returns this year, 5.5 million of them on April 15, 16 and 17. Those who wait until the deadline to file, IRS officials say, can expect to wait 10 weeks or so to get a refund check, if one is due.
