The Avalon City Council has approved an appeal by the city of the state’s rejection of $87,000 in storm damage claims.
The claims, which were made for damage to public property during a storm on Feb. 17, were rejected by the state Office of Emergency Services because they did not conform to agency guidelines, said a report from the city manager’s office.
Among the property damaged was the walkway to the famous Avalon Casino. The damage was caused by a wind storm during the high tide of Feb. 17.
