The New York Post reported this week that the New York State Council on the Arts spent nearly $100,000 in the last few years funding projects on transvestism, lesbianism and homosexuality. One project, sponsored by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Fund for Human Dignity, was a photographic exhibition and lecture series to encourage public acceptance of “individuals who have abandoned the constraints of sexually stereotyped male dress to find more freedom of personal expression in the dress of women.” The tabloid’s front-page headline: “Tax $$ Paying for Men in Drag.”
