Nielsen Media Research will give KNBC a slap on the wrist in response to KCBS’ recent complaint about a remark made by Channel 4 anchorman John Beard during the February sweeps. A Nielsen spokesman said Thursday that the ratings company will insert a note into its next ratings book commenting that an ad lib was made by a KNBC anchor about Nielsen. Beard introduced a segment on the Grammy Awards by saying, “If you don’t want to know (the winners), you might want to close your ears or leave the room--but leave that Nielsen meter on.” The Nielsen spokesman called Beard’s violation “minor and innocuous.”
