Costa Mesa : Petitions to Force Vote on Arnel Plan Given City
- Share via
A residents’ group turned in petitions this week calling for a referendum on whether to overturn the City Council’s recent approval of Arnel Development Co.’s Metro Pointe Phase 2 development.
Costa Mesa Residents for Responsible Growth handed in 5,630 signatures in hopes of qualifying the referendum for the November ballot. The group needs 4,170 valid signatures--10% of the city’s registered voters--to qualify for the ballot, City Clerk Eileen P. Phinney said.
Metro Pointe’s second phase calls for construction of three large office towers along the San Diego Freeway between South Coast Drive and Bear Street.
