NEWSTEAD, N.Y. — A stretch of the New York State Thruway was closed Wednesday after a wheel on a tractor-trailer rig caught fire and the truck’s cargo of chocolate bars and caramels melted. Travel on the westbound lanes was restricted for several hours, authorities said.
