Agoura Man Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash

An Agoura man died Thursday when his car skidded out of control and collided with another vehicle on the Ventura Freeway in Agoura, authorities said.
Thomas Elder, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene after his car swerved from an inside westbound lane and crashed into a truck driven by George Valdez, 53, of Simi Valley, California Highway Patrol Officer Diane Lowery said. Valdez was in serious condition at Westlake Community Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
Elder was traveling “at an unsafe speed for the conditions” when he lost control of his car near Lost Hills Road about 5 p.m., Lowery said.
