Local News in Brief : Going for All-America Honors
- Share via
The National Civic League has named Inglewood a finalist in the 1988 All-America City Awards competition.
The announcement last week means that Inglewood representatives will make their case to an awards jury in Houston in hopes of receiving one of 10 All-America City awards given each year by the New York-based League.
Inglewood officials and members of the Los Angeles Laker Wives organization nominated Inglewood, citing the city’s fight against drugs, which encompassed the schools, Police Department, community groups and the Lakers. The awards are given to cities that come up with broad-based strategies for solving problems in the community.
The awards will be made in June.
