Commuter Service to Roll

The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council has approved a plan for a seven-city commuter bus service.
It is projected that the commuter service will carry about 1,000 aerospace employees daily from their homes in Rancho Palos Verdes, Hermosa Beach, Lawndale, Los Angeles, Redondo Beach, Torrance and El Segundo to and from work at El Segundo aerospace firms.
Approval of the plan by the other six cities is expected by June 30, said Sandra Learman, Rancho Palos Verdes transit analyst, after which the search will begin for an operating agent and vehicles.
