AST Research has broken into the ranks of the top personal computer makers whose products are sold through retail stores, according to Infocorp, a Cupertino market research firm. In its March survey of top-selling personal computers, AST’s Premium 386 personal computer model captured 4% of retail sales. Two Apple Computer models, the Macintosh II and Macintosh SE, topped the list. The Macintosh SE had a 12% market share and the Macintosh II had 7%.
