Eldorado Bancorp in Laguna Hills said it has completed the merger of its recently acquired American Merchant Bank into its Eldorado Bank subsidiary. The holding company had purchased 84% of Newport Beach-based American Merchant in March under a plan that would have allowed the bank to operate independently of Tustin-based Eldorado Bank. But economies of scale dictated that American Merchant become part of Eldorado, said J.B. Crowell, the holding company’s president and chief executive officer. Eldorado Bank operates nine full-service banking offices and two loan production offices in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
