McGraw-Hill Inc. said it has sold its 49% interest in Nikkei-McGraw-Hill Inc., a joint venture publishing company in Japan, for $283 million. The stake was bought by Nihon Keizai Shimbun, a major Japanese publisher, which had owned 51% of the venture. The venture publishes 16 magazines, six newsletters and other services in Japanese. McGraw-Hill said it remains committed to doing business in Japan.
