Donna Watson of Yorba Linda shot a 1-under-par 71 Friday to complete a wire-to-wire victory in the 65th Los Angeles City women’s golf championships at Encino Golf Course. Watson’s three-round total of 8-under-par 214 gave her a seven-shot margin over 15-year-old Heide Voorhees of Woodley Lakes.
Voorhees struggled to a final-round 75 but managed to hold off Sepulveda’s Marie Kuhn, who finished third with a closing 72 for a tournament total of 226.
Linda Pearson of La Canada, Watson’s teammate on the Cal State Long Beach golf team, finished third at 228, one stroke ahead of Susan Rennie of the Rancho Golf Club and Amy Bubon of the Rokman Golf Club, who tied for fifth at 229.
