I feel duty-bound to write this in behalf of my daughter, Emily, who is too young herself to ask just who this wisenheimer Burt Prelutsky thinks he is!
A while back I taped the television version of the movie “Mask” for Emily. She is mildly handicapped with cerebral palsy and I felt that this fine film had much to offer in the way it presented the handicapped as total, complete individuals.
It quickly became her favorite movie. When I asked her why she liked it so much her reply was: “No matter what happened to him, Rocky just went ahead and lived his life all the way out.”
Is it possible that because of the film’s excellent execution, my 8-year-old got the point that seems to have so sadly eluded Prelutsky?
