Pilot Unhurt in Crash on Grand Canyon Rim

GRAND CANYON, Ariz. — A small airplane piloted by a North Hollywood man lost power and crashed Sunday on the south rim of the Grand Canyon, but there were no injuries, officials said.
The single-engine Piper Turbo went down en route from Denver to Bullhead City, Ariz., said Chuck Lundy, a management assistant at Grand Canyon National Park. Pilot Douglas Cunningham, 48, was flying alone, Lundy said.
The crash occurred on the park’s East Rim Drive, on the south rim, about 6 miles east of Grand Canyon Village.
The Federal Aviation Administration was expected to begin its investigation today.
