GERANIUM (California)--There are many varieties of this popular house and garden plant. Most are harmless--the leaves of the rose geranium are often used to flavor jellies, for instance, and the oil of some types is used in perfumes and soaps. But the variety known as California is considered toxic if eaten or swallowed, and care should be taken with small children or pets.
