All municipal, county, state and federal government offices, as well as banks, most businesses, schools and post offices will be closed Monday, the official observance of the Christmas holiday.
There will be no mail delivery, but mail will be picked up from collection boxes according to the holiday schedules posted on individual boxes. Post offices will resume regular business hours Tuesday.
Regular Monday trash collection for San Diego will be postponed one day, to Tuesday. The county landfills in Otay Mesa, Miramar, Santee, and San Marcos will be closed Christmas Day. Last-minute shoppers have until 6 tonight to find that perfect gift for that special someone because all the stores in Horton Plaza, Mission Valley, Fashion Valley, University Towne Centre and North County Fair will be closed Christmas Day. Lest any hard-core shoppers go into mall withdrawal, all the stores will reopen at 9 a.m. Monday.
