The cast of “The Jim Henson Hour,” which premieres Jan. 13 on NBC, will include Waldo, the first computer-generated Muppet. Puppeteer Steve Whitmire and the artists at Pacific Data Images, a computer animation studio in Sunnyvale, Calif., work together to create the animation of the character. Kermit and the other Muppets will interact with a simplified image of Waldo during taping. A computer will then create a fully rendered, three dimensional image of the character and add it to the live action footage during post-production.
