Sunday’s CBS movie about singer Karen Carpenter has triggered more than 1,000 calls for information about anorexia nervosa, the eating disorder that resulted in her death. And the phones were still ringing Tuesday morning. Stations across the country broadcast the toll-free telephone number (800) 334-8415 of Renfrew Center in Philadelphia that treats eating disorders. “We expected the explosion of interest,” said Judy Goldstein, director of admissions. Callers will receive a brochure about the disorder and a list of self-help centers throughout the country.
