Blizzard Wallops Plains States, Michigan

A blizzard that made travel “virtually impossible” in North Dakota and Minnesota blew into Michigan Sunday, and temperatures plummeted to produce a wind-chill factor of 65 below zero.
A record 24 inches of snow fell at Fargo, N. D., and Crookston, Minn., reported 22 inches.
A winter storm warning remained posted for parts of Upper Michigan through Sunday evening, where a foot of snow fell at Wakefield, Nestoria and Ontonogon. At Calumet, blizzard conditions were reported, and visibility was reduced to 150 feet.
The wind-whipped snow blinded motorists and cut visibility to nearly zero over eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota, the National Weather Service said.
“It is virtually impossible to travel over the blizzard areas,” meteorologist Brian Smith warned Sunday.
