Reputed Oldest English Newspaper to Be Sold

BELFAST, Northern Ireland — The News Letter, the Belfast daily that claims to be the world’s oldest surviving English-language newspaper, is to be sold, it was announced here.
The Belfast Telegraph, a Belfast evening paper, said Monday that it will buy the News Letter, its sister weekly the Sunday News and two other local free papers.
The News Letter was founded in September, 1737, although its oldest surviving issue is from March, 1738.
