Weatherspoon Awarded Broderick Cup

SAN FRANCISCO — Teresa Weatherspoon, who led Louisiana Tech to the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s basketball championship last season, was awarded the Broderick Cup here Tuesday night as the outstanding athlete in women’s collegiate sports.

Weatherspoon was a starting guard for the 1988 U.S. team that won an Olympic gold medal last fall at Seoul, South Korea. Among the individual winners was Lisa Longaker of UCLA for softball.
