Williams, Wilson Lead USIU Past Manhattan

RIVERDALE, N.Y. — Gary Williams scored 21 points and Paul Wilson had 20 to lead the U.S. International University men’s basketball team past Manhattan, 94-73, Thursday night.
Wilson, who scored 18 in the first half, put USIU ahead to stay at 12-10 with a jump shot that started a 13-2 burst. The run ended with 2 free throws by Matt Judd that made it 23-12 with 10:45 left in the half.
The Soaring Gulls (7-12) held a 46-32 lead at halftime. Manhattan (3-11) closed to 79-71 when Peter Runge made 2 free throws with 4:42 to play, capping a streak of eight straight points. But USIU responded with 11 consecutive points to hand Manhattan its fourth consecutive loss.
Runge led the Jaspers with 24 points and 15 rebounds.
