Cray Research’s 1988 earnings rose 6% from the previous year to $156.6 million. Revenue reached $756.3 million, a 10% increase. Company officials said the value of contracts signed during 1988 increased, and the value of its contract backlog at year-end also was higher than at the end of 1987. Minneapolis-based Cray Research makes supercomputers for use by scientists and engineers.
