Texas Freshman Wins Singles Title

Freshman Steve Bryan from the University of Texas defeated teammate Patrick Flynn, 6-4, 7-5, Sunday to win the singles final of the Adidas Invitational tennis tournament at Grand Champions Resort in Indian Wells.
Unranked Doug Eisenman and Matt Lucena of Cal upset top-seeded Woody Hunt and Ted Scherman, also of Cal, 6-4, 6-2.
Bryan and Eisenman and Lucena earned wild-card berths in the Newsweek Champions Cup, to be held March 13-19 at Indian Wells.
