A 17-year-old high school student from Escondido was killed Thursday night when his car struck a parked flatbed semi-trailer, authorities said.
According to Escondido police, Ethan B. Eller ran off the road while traveling north in the 1500 block of Tanglewood Lane and smashed into the parked truck.
Eller lived in the 100 block of North Upas Street.
A passenger in the car, Thomas W. Mercer, 15, was taken to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of facial cuts.
Eller was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
