IN BRIEF : Otis Wilson Signs With Raiders

Former All-Pro linebacker Otis Wilson, left unprotected by the Chicago Bears under the new National Football League free agency system, has signed with the Raiders, it was announced today. Wilson, 31, played eight years with the Bears 1980-87 and was All-Pro in 1985, before missing half of 1987 and the entire 1988 season after knee surgery. The Raiders team announcement said, “The Raider medical team expects him to be completely healthy for the start of preseason training.”
A 6-foot-2 225-pounder, Wilson was the 19th player taken in the 1980 college draft, and the first linebacker chosen. He played in college at Louisville.
He had 11 1/2 quarterback sacks in 1985, and two more during the Bears’ Super Bowl victory over New England. In his eight years with the Bears he started 91 of 110 games and made 877 tackles, 40 1/2 sacks, 10 interceptions, 8 fumble recoveries, 4 touchdowns and was credited with 2 safeties.
