Simon & Shuster’s publicity material for “If I Can Dream: Elvis’ Own Story” (due out March 29) puts down all those “kiss-and-tell and trash Elvis books,” adding, “With this book we learn the inside story of the real man behind the legend.” The author, Larry Geller, was allegedly Presley’s “close friend, confidant, spiritual adviser”--and hairdresser.
. . . Rodney Dangerfield wants it both ways--a TV career and plenty of free time to pursue other opportunities. He’ll start shooting “Rodney, Jr.,” an NBC sitcom pilot April 10 that will feature Dangerfield in bookend vignettes--with the main action about a young boy who turns to the comic for advice and inspiration. Meanwhile, the No Respect guy starts filming Orion’s “The Scout” April 17.
