U.S. Attempts to Oust Gen. Noriega

Just as soon as I picked up my Times (May 11) I knew I had to wire the President of the United States. Much to the credit of whomever selected the front-page photo of “a bloodied Guillermo Ford,” under further assault by one of Gen. Noriega’s thugs while one of his riot cops just watches in the background, your readership now knows what is truly happening to freedom in Panama.
With this front-page photo in front of me I wired the President: “Send the troops to Panama now!”
