Unfunny Subject

A comment prompted by Patrick Goldstein’s “Julie Brown, Queen of the Valley,” April 30: The movie “Earth Girls Are Easy” has a scene in which Geena Davis, babbling about space aliens who landed in her back yard, notices a woman watching her strangely. “I’m on drugs,” she offers in explanation.

A funny line, since the film is a send-up of L.A.’s wacky culture. But I doubt it will draw laughs from the government and civic leaders pleading with Hollywood to stop depicting drugs as either attractive or humorous.
