2 Parole Office Sites Studied

PASADENA — After being stung by heavy neighborhood opposition to opening a parole office on Rosemead Boulevard, the state Department of Corrections has begun investigating two nearby sites in east Pasadena.
The new sites are located about one mile west of Rosemead Boulevard at 2650 Foothill Blvd. and 96 N. Sunnyslope Ave. The department is also considering a site at 123 Lake Ave. and one on the 2500 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue.
The city Board of Directors is scheduled to discuss the sites at its meeting Tuesday.
Nearby residents who opposed the Rosemead site said it was too close to homes and would lead to increased violence and crime.
The city and the Department of Corrections agreed in March to work together to find a more suitable location for the office.
