Actor Pat Morita, who got an Oscar nomination for playing the martial-arts master Miyagi in “Karate Kid,” will be back in the role when “Karate Kid” comes to NBC this fall as a Saturday morning animated series. He’ll provide the voice for the animated character of Miyagi and also will dispense the wise “Miyagi-isms” in a live segment at the end of each episode. DIC Enterprises is producing the series in association with Columbia Pictures Television.

Nobody is wasting videotape saving old “Today,” “Good Morning America” or “CBS This Morning” broadcasts, according to a recent Nielsen survey. Of the 2 hours and 34 minutes that the average VCR household spends taping programs, only 2% is devoted to the early morning hours, 6-10 a.m. Not surprisingly, most taping, 41%, occurs during prime time. Second most-popular was daytime--workers taping favorite soap operas, no doubt--which accounted for 27%.
