Despite missing six players because of all-star game commitments, Woodland Hills East defeated Newhall-Saugus, 6-1, in an inter-division District 20 American Legion baseball game Saturday afternoon at Taft High.
Pitcher Chris Brown improved his record to 3-0 in a complete-game four-hitter. He struck out eight, walked one and was helped by standout defense--Woodland Hills East made no errors.
“We stress defense and all our players are capable of rising to the occasions. And Chris Brown pitched a magnificent game,” said Matt Borzello, Woodland Hills East coach.
Second baseman Michael Kimelman had two hits and three runs batted in for Woodland Hills East.
