19 Drug Dealers Hanged by Iran; Year’s Toll 647

NICOSIA, Cyprus — Iran hanged 19 drug dealers Tuesday, including three women, bringing to 647 the number of drug traffickers it has executed this year.
Tehran Radio, monitored in Nicosia, said the condemned were convicted of handling a total of 1,600 pounds of drugs. They went to the gallows in six cities.
Several of those executed were also convicted of gun-running and sexual offenses, the radio said.
