MONACO — A Parisian car dealer paid $3 million for a 1935 Mercedes-Benz roadster at a Sotheby’s Monaco auction this weekend, a Sotheby’s spokesman said today.
A spokesman for the famous auction house said the bid by the unidentified dealer set a record for the highest amount paid for any article to auctioned by Sotheby’s in Monaco.
The spokesman said the Mercedes 500K Special roadster was judged the most beautiful automobile when it was first shown in the 1935 World Automobile Show in Berlin.
