Steelworkers Agree on Contract: The United Steelworkers reached a tentative contract agreement for 4,700 union members at Armco Inc. of Pittsburgh, the last of five major steelmakers to settle during the current round of negotiations. The Armco pact, reached just before midnight Monday, covers four years and is patterned after an agreement with Bethlehem Steel Corp., a USW spokesman said. USW members at Bethlehem got back previous wage sacrifices and won raises of $1.50 per hour over the life of the contract.
