Cecil Moores; Operator of Littlewoods Lottery

Cecil Moores, 86, a multimillionaire who operated Britain’s Littlewoods lottery on soccer pools. Moores was one of Britain’s wealthiest men but lived modestly, supporting charities in Liverpool’s Merseyside district, where he was born. In 1924 his brother, Sir John Moores, now 83, founded the Littlewoods lottery, in which people bet on the results of weekly soccer matches. The business has 5,000 employees and an annual income of about $800 million. Cecil Moores took charge of the Littlewoods business in 1932. While vacationing in Scotland on Saturday.
