A pickup truck driver was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after he allegedly drove into the path of another pickup, killing a female passenger in that truck and injuring her two children.
Police Sgt. Robert Robertson said Efraim Cruz Jiminez, 21, apparently was under the influence of alcohol when his northbound pickup swerved into another lane in the 700 block of South Main Street in Santa Ana on Wednesday night.
Gloria Delao Hernandez, 44, died at the scene. Her 3-month-old daughter, Cynthia Leon Delao, suffered critical injuries and 2-year-old Mercedes Aileen Delao had moderate cuts and bruises. The driver of the truck they were riding in was not identified.
The two male passengers riding with Jiminez were treated for minor injuries.
All were taken to a local hospital.
