WORLD : 6 E. German Opera Members Defect

LONDON — Six members of a leading East German opera company have defected after a two-week tour in London, it was reported today.
The Daily Express said the six singers and technicians from the Komische Oper had been in hiding in London since their last performance at the Royal Opera House on Saturday and planned to leave soon for West Germany.
The East German Embassy refused any comment.
