Former child film star Shirley Temple Black on Wednesday gave President Gustav Husak her credentials as the new U.S. ambassador to Czechoslovakia, the official news agency CTK said. Black arrived in the country on Aug. 11. She last was in Prague 21 years ago, attending a congress when Warsaw Pact tanks rolled into Czechoslovakia to crush its 1968 “Prague Spring” reforms. Black, who won a special 1935 Oscar for her contribution to screen entertainment, has held a number of official U.S. posts, including ambassador to Ghana from 1974-76.
