The presidents of Brazil and Argentina agreed to dramatically increase trade between their countries and work together to solve their economic problems. “Unity is no longer a distant desire. . . . It is the means to end the vicious circle of dependence,” Brazilian President Jose Sarney declared to his country’s congress after signing an accord for bilateral integration on the second day of Argentine President Carlos Saul Menem’s visit to Brasilia. The two leaders signed 15 documents to revitalize and increase trade between the nations.
