Banks in Palmdale and Simi Valley were robbed Friday by apparently unarmed men who handed notes to tellers demanding money, authorities said.
In Simi Valley, a robber described as a white male between 25 and 30 years old wearing a beige cap and blue flannel shirt walked into the Santa Barbara Savings and Loan in the 2800 block of Cochran Street about 4:30 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money, Simi Valley Police Lt. Neal Rein said.
The teller turned over $1,500 and the man fled in a small, tan pickup truck, Rein said. Witnesses said the man was about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighed about 180 pounds, Rein said.
In Palmdale, a man described as a Latino passed a note demanding money to a teller at the Bank of America at 830 East Palmdale Blvd. at about 10:30 a.m., Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said. The man fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, sheriff’s deputies said.
