False Travel Papers a Problem in China

BEIJING — China said Friday that fake travel documents are being used to smuggle citizens abroad and that foreigners and Chinese living outside the country are involved.
More than 400 people have been caught using false documents this year and another 33 have been arrested for counterfeiting the documents, the official newspaper People’s Daily said.
A number of political dissidents fled the country after the army crushed a pro-democracy campaign in June and many are still trying to leave, legally or otherwise.
